Character sheets and rolling

Savage Worlds sheets that build themselves correctly and roll with one click.

  1. 1Add a sheet to a page

Add a Character sheet block to a character's page. Guided build walks through ancestry, hindrances, attributes, skills, edges, powers and gear in order, checking the points as you go. You can also edit any part directly, and Add an advance as the character grows.

  2. 2Start from a creature (GM)

A sheet nobody has filled in yet offers a box: Find in the bestiary… Type part of a name and pick the creature. The sheet becomes that creature's, the campaign's own homebrew included, for you to change from there.

  3. 3Roll

At the Table Top the sheet reads in the order a fight needs it. Fight lists the weapons in hand and then the powers, each with its numbers. A weapon has Attack (Reload when a crossbow is empty), Damage and a raise tick; a power has Cast with its cost, Skill only to roll the arcane skill and spend nothing, and Damage only where the power has damage. Under Traits, choose any attribute or skill to roll it, with Roll, Support, Distract or Make Vulnerable picked on the heading.

Beside every attack or cast is a ⋯ options chip. It opens with the weapon's reach or range drawn on the map and lists the target first (name, distance, who stands beside them for Gang Up), then the options this one roll could take (Wild Attack, the Called Shots, Defend, Off-hand, Aim and the rest, each with a line on when it is worth it; the ones that don't fit wait under More…), and a Modifier for this roll alone. Under the button, one line says every modifier the roll will carry and what it is judged against before it is rolled.

  4. 4Track the fight

The tiles at the top of the sheet are Wounds, Fatigue, Bennies and PP, each with − and +; Shaken and Conviction are chips that press on and off, and Incapacitated or Bleeding Out comes with Roll Vigor. Pace, Parry, Toughness and Size say on hover what makes them; Size comes from a Size effect on an ability, Edge or Hindrance. What was last done to the sheet is at its top, with Undo.

On me now is the one place for everything on the character: conditions, modifiers and changed dice as chips, each saying what it does, why, and how long it lasts. add takes a known condition, a modifier of your own or a die changed, with For (this turn, until my next, some rounds, the fight, until something, for good) and Because. Ticking an option in the ⋯ chip writes the same chip here.

Under Common, Unshake, Soak and Run roll those for you, and Spend a Benny… lists what a Benny buys: Reroll the last roll, Soak, Unshake, Recover 5 Power Points and The GM said so. The table is a sandbox: a second action with one declared, a cast with too few Power Points or an attack while Shaken still rolls, and the roll's row wears an amber mark saying what the rules would have refused, with the fix beside it where there is one (Make it 2 actions). Power Points go below zero and read red.

  5. 5Your turn

When it is your turn, the bar under the map and the strip at the top of your sheet carry the way back at their left end: Undo (greyed with nothing yet before the first step), Redo after an Undo, and Start over for the whole turn. Then Hold, More and End turn. Pick a piece and the bar leads with what fits it; the ⋯ chip beside an attack is the same one as on the sheet.

  6. 6The session log

The log is a feed in the bottom-left corner of the map. Anything waiting on you (a hit to Soak, a card to draw, a night's rest to answer) is pinned on top in an amber box; under it the last few rolls, each fading after a few seconds, longer when it is yours, and a row with a decision still in it staying until it is made. A quiet ✕ on a pinned row hides it on this device only.

From a roll you can Reroll (Benny), Roll damage or Soak (Benny); the GM can Apply damage to its target. The Session log handle, or a click on a row, opens the whole log in the same corner, with Close, Keep open, Own window and Clear.

  7. 7Say something

The line at the foot of the log takes what you type: press Enter anywhere on the table to start, Enter again to send, Shift+Enter for a new line. It goes in the log with the rolls, kept with the session.

The chip at its start says who is speaking: your character, or as myself for a word out of character, shown in italics. The GM speaks as the GM or as a creature or page on the table. Dice in double brackets roll as you send them: I swing, [[2d6+1]] if it lands shows the total, with the dice under the pointer; plain words like "I roll 2d6" never roll. The 🎲 at the end of the line puts the brackets in for you.

What you say comes out of whoever said it, in a speech bubble for a few seconds: a character's or a creature's from its piece on the map, and a word as myself (or the GM's as the GM) from that person's seat at the table's edge. Someone who isn't on the map is only in the log. A whisper's bubble is seen only by those it is for.

  8. 8Whisper to the GM

Whisper to the GM, on the On the table heading or in the line's chip, sends what you say and roll to the GM alone until you press it again. Everything it covers has a dashed gold outline while it is on: the buttons that roll, the line, and those rows in the log. The rest of the table sees only Mira rolled out of sight, never what came up. It ends with the session. To whisper one line only, start it with /w gm.

The GM whispers to a player from the chip (Whisper to Sam, or /w sam), and rolls unseen with Behind the screen on the same heading. A whisper waits pinned in the log until it is dismissed; Reply answers it, and the GM's Show the table reads a whisper or a hidden roll out to everyone.

  9. 9Send your rolls elsewhere

Right-click your own seat at the table. Send my rolls to Roll20 copies each roll into Roll20 through Beyond20, in this browser. Post my rolls to Discord posts them to the campaign's channel, once the GM has given the Discord rolls card under Connections on the Settings page a webhook address. A roll made out of sight goes to neither, and nothing said in the line does.
