Maps at the table

Look around, move pieces, measure, and lay areas.

  1. 1Look around

Drag to pan and scroll to zoom. Tilt leans the board over for a three-quarter view; Reset view puts it back. When more than one map is on the table, the bar lists them and each person turns to the one they want. The GM can right-click the floor or a piece and choose Bring everyone's view here, or Shift-click the floor: every screen glides to that spot, and to the zoom the GM is using. A Shift-drag still picks the pieces in a box.

  2. 2Place and move pieces

The GM adds a character or creature from the box at the top of the toolbox (Add to map), or right-clicks the floor and chooses Put something here… to find it in a box that opens on that spot. Drag a piece to move it, or right-click the floor and choose the row that moves it there. On your turn the bar under the map shows how far you have moved against your Pace, with Undo, Start over, Run, Hold and End turn.

Pick a piece and the bar offers what fits: a foe to attack, a friend to Support. Double-click a piece to open its sheet in the drawer. Right-click a piece for everything else: aim at it, change its side, Hide from players, Make it a Wild Card or Make it an Extra, Pick all like this, or take it off the map.

  3. 3Measure and lay areas

Measure gives the distance between two points. Area lays a Blast, a Cone or a Stream to see who is caught in it. A Cone or a Stream comes from the piece you have picked; with nobody picked, the first click says where it comes from.

Leave it on the map keeps an area where it was laid, for everyone to see. Whoever left it, or the GM, can drag it by its small grip, or right-click to take it off.

  4. 4Draw on the map

Press Draw in the bar, then pick Pen, Line, Arrow, Box or Circle, a colour and a width. You start in your seat's colour. Drag on the map to draw. Shift keeps a line straight or a box square.

Everyone at the table sees it as you draw, and it stays until it is erased. Erase takes away every drawing you drag across: a player erases only their own, the GM any. Clear ▾ offers Clear my drawings, and the GM Clear every drawing. Ctrl+Z takes back your last drawing.

Right-click while drawing for the Draw menu, and choose Done drawing to go back to Move. The GM can also draw in the wiki's map editor.

  5. 5Travel between maps

A way to another map is a round sign with an arrow. The GM sets one down in the map's editor (a marker pointed at a map), or at the table by right-clicking the floor, choosing Put something here… and then Map link beside the map it leads to. Choosing the sign lets the GM send everyone, or one character, to the other map. Players see a link the GM has not hidden, and can Ask to go there. Until they can open the map it leads to, the sign does not say its name. Sending the players onto a map only the GM could see reveals that map in the wiki, and everything on it except pieces the GM has hidden. The message says so before they go.

  6. 6Token frames (GM)

Frames sets how pieces look across the whole campaign: a style, a shape (or a different shape for each side), and each side's colour. A piece's frame also shows its state — Shaken, wounds, on Hold — at a glance.
